Getting Sore Legs While Heading Home

When returning to my hotel I saw a tower close to my hotel and thought I should check that out. I found it on my phone in the evening and headed out the next day in search of the tower.

I wanted to try and avoid the drive down the highway make a u-turn drive back past my hotel and make another u-turn so attempted to drive through side streets. Google maps seemed to make this look easy enough. I first missed a turn and encounter an angry dog that seemed to calm down when I turned around and then encountered a group of 4 or 5 dogs. There was a man yelling at the dogs and they seemed friendly enough so was able to slowly ride past. A lot different than the dog that chased me for 200 yards a couple of days before.

The road I was on and the one google was leading me down quickly turned into a dirt footpath. I was able to ride down this path since it was dry and was luckily not in a car. The path connected to a normal street. I soon arrived at a spot where google told me to turn left in a place that just appeared to be a gap between two houses. At this point the drive on the highway and the 2 u-turns looked like a better way to the tower. The road I was on lead back to the highway where I drove about a mile down the highway made a u-turn. Drove back about a mile and a half made another u-turn and returned to the road to the temple which was maybe 100 feet from where I turned onto the highway.

All of that to get to Wat Chom Phothayaram and see this tower.

I had seen most of the things on my list for Chachoengsao so started the trip home but taking the long way and stopping at a couple of more temples. I first stopped at Wat Luang Pee Sam. I arrived just after a tour bus got there. It is a cave like type of place but I have no idea if it is natural or man made. I also don't even recall why this place got added to my list but still made for a somewhat interesting stop.

The glass walkway at Wat Khao Tabaek has been on my to do list since it first opened but had never got around to visiting it. It seemed like it would only be a small detour on my route home from Chachoengsao so added it to my trip.

It is a bit of a hike to get to the temple at the top of a hill and then back down about 100 steps to the walkway. Not sure it was worth the sore legs to walk over a piece of glass and look down but I can now remove it from my to do list.

I arrived back in Pattaya to be greeted by all the traffic of tourist from Bangkok for the Chinese New Year holiday weekend. My Chinese New Year will be spent at home avoiding the traffic and letting my legs recover.

  1. Is the tower some sort of temple and did you go inside? The cave looks interesting and the glass walk. Cly

    1. Yes the tower is part of a temple and I briefly stuck my head in the tower but did not really explore the complete temple grounds.
