Bats/Flying Foxes at Wat Pho Bang Khla

My last stop of the 1st day of playing tourist in Chachoengsao was at Wat Pho Bang Khla. I did not come here to see the Buddhas or the Ganeshas but to see the fruit bats or flying foxes. I assumed I would have to do some looking around on the temple grounds to find the bats but as soon as I parked my scooter I looked up and the trees were loaded with bats.

I made this the last stop of the day in hopes that the I would get to see some the bats in flight and I was not disappointed. At first I thought there was a large bird flying above the trees but soon discovered that the large birds were in fact bats. I found it hard to capture the bats flying on video but take a look at what I managed to capture.

I think I should have been creeped out by a bunch of bats hanging and flying over my head but I found it thrilling. It was an amazing site. It was the highlight of my trip to Chachoengsao.

    1. So many bats. I did not really think there would be so many and not sure why they all seem to be in one place.

They seem huge when they are in flight but seem so much smaller when hanging in the trees.
