After a wonderful week full of watching rockets going up to ask the rain gods for rain, I was hoping the gods would not answer the request for a few days while I made the long ride home.
I had a few places I wanted to visit in Si Saket Province before turning west in the direction of home.
My first stop was at Phrathat Ruang Rong which was an attractive temple.
There was a monk banging on a drum and he kept pointing me to the top of the temple so I made my way up four flights of stairs and enjoyed the views while catching my breath.
The 2nd stop of the day was another Khmer ruin called Srakamphaengno Stone castle. The thing I enjoy most at this site was a Thai man that was also visiting. I told him I was coming from the rocket festival and he showed me pictures on his phon of him holding his rocket and then the video of its launch. He was visiting his girlfriend in Si Saket but lived in Surat Thani so he had a much longer drive ahead of him than me.
I was headed to another Khmer ruin and past a sign for Prasat Ban Prasat Sanctuary. I looked it up on google maps and made a bit of a detour to visit this interesting ruin.
I arrived at Prasat Prang Ku and the ruins had 3 what I think are called lintels on the base of the structure in front of each stupa. I found them impressive and the 2nd picture down is one of these lintels.
I made it to the Khun Han district of Si Saket and was planning on visiting another temple. It had been a long day so found a hotel went to a night market for some food and hoped the temple would still be there the following morning.
