After a great time in the different smaller festivals, it was time for the big one in Yasothon. They had stages lining the street for Friday night and what seemed like a contest to see who could play the music the loudest. Lots of dancing and what appeared to be a beauty contest. I already posted a video from The Pattaya News on the Friday night party and it is a lot better than my short clips of the party.
Saturday was the parade and surprised how these ladies danced down the street for hours in the blazing hot sun. I set in a coffee shop for a while and watch the parade go by and then walked the street for about 45 minutes before giving up due to the heat. I assume the party was on again Saturday night but I stayed in the hotel so would make it to see the rockets on Sunday morning.
The schedule said the rockets started at 7 AM. I arrived at the area about 8 AM and it did not look like any rockets were ready to be fired yet. I walked back to a coffee shop that had AC to get me some wake-up liquid and about 30 minutes later heard the first rocket being fired. I hurried back and was offered a seat in one of the tents and enjoy about 4 hours of rocket setup and launch.
Following is the slideshow I did of the 3 days of the festival with pictures and videos.
This is a short I uploaded while at the party on Friday night.
This is a short I uploaded of one rocket on Sunday.
I went from being very disappointed at the rescheduling of the festival to be thrilled that it happened. If I do it again in the future I will really try and make it to the different villages again for their festivals. I had a great time and was well worth the trip.
