A day in Amnat Charoen

I had been having some long days riding the motorbike but I was getting close to where I needed to be for the rocket festival so really did not need to cover much ground today.

I had spent the night in Loeng Nok Tha and had noticed the local temple on the way into town so decided to check it out the following morning. This is Wat Prom Wihan in Loeng Nok Tha.

Amnat Charoen is a province I have not been to before so visiting was as much to checking the province off my list and not any specific site. When I was looking at what to visit in this province, I did not see a lot that I was interested in but did see Puttha Utthayan and Pra Mongkol Ming Muang.

I found this disk interesting on the temple grounds and for some reason it reminded me of the Aztec Sun Stone in The National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.

After slowly riding 50 kiliometers making 2 stops at temples, a stop for breakfast and another stop for a coffee I made it to the city of Amnat Charoen. I found a place to stay a bit out of town that was made up of a group of cottages in the middle of some rice fields. It was a peaceful place and severed a wonderful breakfast the following morning.
