I rode from the small town in Nakhon Ratchasima where I spent the night to Yasothon City. When I was passing through the province of Roi Et I started seeing stands selling small rockets and at the turn for Ku Ka Sing which was my very first experience with Rocket Festivals I saw the following sign.
I stopped and took the picture and ran it through Google translate hoping it was for Ku Ka Sing's festival but it's for a different place.
When riding through Suwannaphum, Roi Et and stopped at a traffic light I took a picture of the banner advertising this towns festival. It is the first of June so don't plan to be in this area then so don't plan to attend.
I arrived at the same hotel I have stayed at in the past and got checked in.I had not planned to attend a festival today but was excited so found a festival not far away and rode off in search of rockets.
When I was getting close to area the festival was supposed to be taking place I saw a rocket zip across the heavens.
I arrived about the time the vendors were packing up and leaving but I got to see one big rocket and a number of small ones. This took place at Ban Nong Khu (บ้านหนองคู ต.หนองคู).
Following is the YouTube short I took including a small rocket that exploded shortly after launch.
When I was leaving I asked these children standing by the large launch platform if I could take their picture. Not sure if the destroyed rocket they had was the one I saw explode.
Not planned but was happy with my first day of rockets this year.
