This is my 3rd day of rockets but was the first day that I had planned. I rode the bike out to Ban Kok Kong Rocket Festival (บ้านโคกก่องบุญบั้งไฟ). It was about 25 km from my hotel.
I think it may have been a bit smaller than the festival yesterday but find it hard to judge the size. Even with the rockets it's hard to tell the size. I think there was a rocket at this festival that was twice as large as the others. I put a picture of it below and they had 3 ropes for pulling it into place where I think they normally only use one.
It may have been larger but didn't do so well. I believe they time the rockets from the time they launch till they land. Not sure I heard correct but one rocket was in the air for 495 seconds. This big rocket did 80 seconds.
Following is the short I uploaded to YouTube while at the festival.
I spent most of the day sitting by an ice truck. I didn't know this when I unpacked my camp chair and asked if it was OK to sit here. The guys I asked were in charge of the truck and I found it interesting watching the motorcycles come and buy ice to deliver to the difference vendors. I couldn't ride my bike with one of these ice bags. I saw some bikes loaded with three bags of what I thought had to be 25 liter bags and no ropes to secure the bags.
I stayed till the last rocket of the day and made my way back to the hotel in the dark but was thrilled it was a dry ride today.
