Going to Visit a Train Market on a Train

I always have thought about going to visit Amphawa Floating Market and wanted to do it the way the Lonely Planet calls the long way to Amphawa. For one reason or another I just have never made it happen. Amphawa Floating market is one of the weekend only markets and it was a Monday. I decided I would do the train part of the trip without doing the floating market at the end and get part of the to do item checked off my list.

The train leaves from Wong Wian Yia train station in Bangkok and goes to Maha Chai. You have to get off the train go over the river and catch a train at Ban Laem station that travels to Mae Klong. The train station in Mae Klong is a tourist attraction as well with a market setup on the train tracks that has to be moved each time a train enters or leaves the station.

If you are going to do this trip I would recommend downloading the free guide off of Richard Barrow's site Thai Train Guide. It has all the train times and other useful information.

Following is a video of the clips and photos I took while going to Mae Klong. I tried something different and did a voice over on the video and hope it does not make you cringe the way hearing my own voice does to me.

This is a short video of the Ferry Crossing in Maha Chai to get to the Bam Laem train station.

I published a short on youtube of the Train Leaving Mae Klong Market.
