The Fruit of Travel

I have said before on this blog that I really enjoy trying new types of fruit. This really started for me when I started traveling in Asia and since then I have rediscovered fruits that I have always thought that I knew. I really enjoy walking through the different local markets and seeing what fruits seem to be in season. The places I have recently been traveling in the fruit was so cheap I had to buy some.

I bought cherries a number of times when I was traveling in Serbia. The first time I did not think about it but the price they had listed was for a kilo and I could not finish my 1 euro worth of cherries prior to leaving Belgrade. After that I would try and hand them the amount of money to buy a quarter or a half a kilo but at times they did not seem to want to have anything to do with me for small amount of money.

Here a photo of the cherries and strawberries that I ate in Serbia. I didn't take a picture of the kilo bag.

These are Blackberries and Raspberries from Bulgaria. I also had Blueberries and some small red berries that I believe were currant.

I also had peaches, apples and pears in Bulgaria. I walked past a number of trees that seemed to be straining from the weight of so much fruit.

Recently I have been eating Polish plums. I think the green tint may have been that they were not completely ripe but still tasted good.
