I visited Si Satchanalai Historical Park (อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์ศรีสัชนาลัย) on July 1st when I was staying in Uttaradit. It was a nice 50 KM or about 30 mile ride between where I was staying and what once was the city of Si Satchanalai.
Three historical sites make up one UNESCO World Heritage called Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns. I visited Sukhothai way back in 2008. I think I had planned to visit Si Satchanalai way back then but didn't because of a rash caused by showering in the guesthouse I was staying in at that time so gave Si Satchanalai a pass.
The 3rd historical site is Kamphaeng Phet which I visited earlier this year.
I visited a number of sites in the area and paid for a ticket to go in the area that has most of the major ruins that make up this park. I put my pictures together in a slide so and uploaded it to YouTube.
I enjoyed visiting the Historical Park but it was a hot humid day I should have taken more water in to the park grounds. Once I left the enclosed area I was happy to get a large cold bottle of water and rest a bit before visiting a couple of other temples and then make the ride back to my hotel in Uttaradit.
It took me close to 20 years to be able to cross off one UNESCO World Heritage site but I can now say I have visited that site. I think I should visit Sukhothai again and see if I enjoy it more the 2nd time.
PS: I don't keep a list of UNESCO World Heritage sites so didn't really have anything to cross off.
