Ubon Ratchathani

I think I have visited the city of Ubon Ratchathani a number of times in the past but have only blogged about it this one time.

I think that was the only time I really did sight seeing in the city and the other times was just passing through on my way some where else. This trip I have my motorbike so have the freedom to see sites outside of the city that I didn't visit on previous trips. I first needed to get the bike serviced since I was putting on the kilometers on this trip. Once that was done it was off to play tourist.

Wat Sa Prasan Suk (วัดสระประสานสุข) or Wat Ban Na Muang (วัดบ้านนาเมือง) was my first stop.

I really enjoyed the recreation of the Royal Barge since I had recently been to see the prosession dress rehearsal.

I am also thought the stone boat in the pound was attractive.

I also throwing in a flower picture because I thought it was pretty.

My next site was Wat Phra That Nong Bua (วัดพระธาตุหนองบัว).

From what I have read this temple is in a style that is more common in Inda than Thailand. It has a large Chedi built around a older and smaller Chedi on the inside.

While in Ubon I also rode out to the Luang Pu Cha Pagoda (เจดีย์อัฐิหลวงปู่ชา).

I found one of the highlights of Ubon Ratchathani was just sitting next to the Mun river. I find a lot of the time in Thailand it's too hot to enjoy being out without at least a fan. My time in Ubon was cooler than usual so I really enjoyed it.

I saw all the sites I had planned to visit in Udon so I spent my last day sitting in my hotel watching it rain and being grateful that I was staying dry.
