Windmill D'Admiraal

The Admiral is located in Amsterdam north which is on the other side of the IJ or the body of water that is directly behind Amsterdam Centraal Train station. I say a body of water because I think of the IJ as a river but not sure if that is what it really is considered. The IJ is the water way that connects the North Sea at IJmuiden to the Amsterdam Harbor to the IJsselemeer. The IJsselemeer is the big U shaped body of water that use to connect to the sea north of Holland before the building of the afsluitdijk (Damn built to protect Holland from flooding).

This windmill is from 1792 and was originally used to mill stones to make mortar.
